  • 🔨 🌈 Fine Motor Hammering 🌈 🔨 When Miss 4 pulled her toy hammer out of her tool kit asking to hammer something, it took me straight back to an activity we did when she was about 18 months old. The objective back then was to push the cotton tips into the holes in the box. Fast forward to age four and we added some colours to the tips to create some patterns! Even Miss 7 enjoyed this little exercise. We used our beautiful rainbow tubes from @littleearthtoys to organise our coloured cotton tips. They worked beautifully! This set of tubes and cups are such a versatile resource!   • 💦 Taste Safe Mud Play 💦 Emotions were at every extreme after an amazing play with friends. We went from explosive tears to giggles and laughter within a few minutes by adding some of our taste safe mud and bubbles into the day! Messy play is always a good calm down activity for our family.   • 🌋 Floor is Lava Number Hunt 🌋 Roll the dice, add them together and retrieve the numbers! Catch: FLOOR IS LAVA! 🔥 The girls were bursting with energy even after a three hour play shared between three local playgrounds this morning. So rather than try and have them stay still to do an activity, we channeled the energy into some fun with Math! They have been playing for a solid hour already, changing and evolving the rules as they go. As they ran out of numbers, they used the remaining ones to build sums that total the original number they were looking for!   • 🐢 🦋 Stamps and Nude Playdough🦋🐢 We received a lovely parcel filled with craft supplies sent over from our Nanny, who lives interstate. As soon as I saw these little treasures I just had to team them up with some playdough. With no further boundaries, the girls were asked to just create. Miss 7 rolled hers out before using the little decals as stamps. Miss 4 copied her sisters lead. Twenty minutes late, I was called over to be told the most wonderful stories of turtle swimming amongst sea weed and magical butterfly’s flying through falling snowflakes.   • 🌈 Rainbow Tubes & Cups with Sensory Rice 🌈 After a long night up with baby, I reached for a trusted favourite activity: scooping and pouring. My kids love this activity- they have done for years. When they were younger it was all about just simply pouring the rice into a vessel. As they have got older, their play has grown too. This instance, with our gorgeous @littleearthtoys Rainbow Cups and Tubes, this scooping and pouring activity transformed our play space into a cafe. I enjoyed lots of coffee and cakes.   • 🌽 🟢 Peas & Corn Sensory Bag 🟢🌽 When I saw this idea on @wunderkindstoys grid, we just had to give it a go too! Frozen peas and corn with a splash of water in a zip lock bag- mr loved it! This one is right up there with his bag of shaving foam! While it was a bit cold to start off with, he persisted with busy hands exploring. The dribbling was next level which is always a sign of concentration 😉 With his strength growing each day, we kept this little activity on his Rudie Nudie Play Mat which has a super absorbent layer backed up with a waterproof one.   • 🪞 Mirror Play 🪞 I have been meaning to add mirrors to baby’s play space but haven’t made it to the shop to get some acrylic ones yet.   • 🥕 Upper & Lower Case Carrot Matching🥕 Today’s phonic fun was had with these super cute printable carrots! We listed phonetically matching words while matching the upper case tops and lower case bottoms. I was expecting to complete this over the afternoon, taking breaks after a five minutes or so however Miss 4 was really driven to do each letter.   • 🐚 🌈 House for a Sea Pixie 🌈 🐚 Inspired by Sandy the Sea Pixie in one of our favourite authors books, we built and decorated some sand castle homes. Shirley Barber is definitely one of our favourite authors- especially when it comes to anything magical. The stories are so beautifully written, full of rich text and imagination. The illustrations are always just as enchanting! I gave Miss 4 some freshly made plain play dough, and little platter of jewelled buttons, clear gems and sea shells to decorate a home she would like if she were a sea pixie. She built a lovely little cave home and decorated it proudly. I had to tend to her brother while she was playing and when I came back, she told me she had made a sea garden for her ‘rainbow pixies’. Her six @littleearthtoys Rainbow Leaves had taken the role of being her pixies and they were having a picnic waiting for a mermaid. Open ended loose parts and wooden toys for the win! When Miss 7 came home from school, she saw the tray and asked if Mr 22 weeks could play with the rice. Feeling disappointed that she couldn’t go, we set up this rainbow with @littleearthtoys to make her feel better. Being inspired by her spelling words of the week, she acted out a freelanced story.   • 🐝 Handwriting Practice 🐝 With her sister busy with her homework and blog, Miss 4 was feeling a bit lost. She wanted a ‘working responsibility’ too. So we set up her own ‘homework’ to do. Pulling out her A to Z activity book I printed off for her, she chose the letter Bb. We have been chipping away through the activities for a while now. Each letter has a formation sheet with phonetically matching illustration, an activity and then handwriting practice sheet.
