Even though you love them dearly, and you’ll adore the time you get to spend together (mostly); your kids can often be a handful, and they’ll wear you out more often than not, regularly. Those moments where they’re at nursery, school, or after-school clubs, can sometimes be filled with catching-up on chores and tasks, prepping for the following day, or working. Therefore, it’s vital to your health, happiness, and wellbeing, as a mum, to ensure that you’re able t get some time for yourself, away from the kids and all the hectic stuff, on the regular. Ensuring that you’re able to switch-off, or enjoy something fun, will allow you to recharge, and get back to your little ones with a smile on your face.
So, it’s time to head to that coffee shop you like the look of, grab yourself a drink and something tasty, and begin to plan some time for you. This will allow you to put things on the family or work calendar, contact any services or friends you want to make the most of, and book anything you might like to do. Making your mum-time more of a “thing”, will help to make sure that it happens, and that you’re making the most of it. The following are some ideas, inspiration, and advice for busy mums who need to focus on themselves a little more often, and who want their quality time to be beneficial to their wellbeing and happiness.

Find Your Tribe
Now, nobody is saying that you have to hang out with other mums; however, they’re going to understand what you’re going through, better than most. Therefore, it’s worth finding women who you get-on with, and who are in a similar situation to yourself, so you can spend some of your free time together, catching-up, and putting the world to rights. Checking out sites like Northern Beaches Mums will allow you to discover events and activities, happening in your area, where other mums will be going with their little ones. Taking this approach can make a refreshing change from the school playground, or post-parent’s evening, meetups. Set-up some coffee dates so that you don’t have the distraction of the kids running around, and you can spend some quality mum-time together.
Firstly, all mums deserve a (medal) treat regularly. However, few take the time, or make the investment in themselves or their wellbeing. Therefore, if you’re partial to a manicure or hot stone massage, love the buzz you get after yoga, or fancy taking-up a class in something creative; invest in yourself and your time. You sacrifice plenty for your little ones, and will have probably gone without on more than one occasion, so, it’s time to call the child minder, book that spa day, and enjoy yourself. Little things to boost your self-care, like luxury bath oil, a new season wardrobe, or a solo trip to the cinema, are all ways to invest in your happiness. And, the happier you are, the happier your kids will be.
