When you are a parent, there just never seems to be enough hours in the day. Even when you’ve been up all night with a restless baby! One of the things that you are never fully prepared for when you have kids, is just how little free time you will get. Also, how many tasks you will need to fit into your day. At times the number of things that you need to get done can seem overwhelming. Juggling school runs around nap times and remembering who needs to be where and when can make life pretty stressful. With so much going on, the very best thing you can do is to be as organised a humanly possible. Try to keep life as simple as possible, and prepare as much as you can in advance. Here are some tips to help you saving time.

Make a Note

Writing stuff down is something that all parents need to do. This is because as much as you think you will remember that important appointment at the time, things can easily slip your mind. Being constantly sleep-deprived and having draining days filled with toddler tantrums can make it hard to remember your own name, let alone anything else. Getting a wall planner or calendar is a great idea. The visual reminder will ensure you have everything you need to know written down. With everything noted down you will never miss a piano recital, or birthday party again.

Saving Time by Thinking Practically

Laundry is an endless task when you have kids. No sooner have you congratulated yourself on reaching the bottom of the laundry basket, and it is full all over again. There’s no doubt about it, kids are messy little things, so dressing them in practical clothing is so important for those quick outfit changes. Choosing practical clothes for the kids to wear makes life easier for you, and also help kids to grow in independence by being able to dress and undress themselves easily. Harem pants are a great example of practical clothing for kids, and they also look super-cute too!

Don’t forget to opt for practical shoe choices too. Having multiple sets of shoelaces to fasten each morning before you rush out the door is no fun for anyone. It is usually best to go for velcro all the way until the kids are old enough to learn to tie their laces themselves.

Plan Ahead

Once the kids are in bed, it’s tempting to crash out on the sofa and binge on a boxset. However, to make life easier for yourself, it is well worth taking 20 minutes to tackle a few of those jobs on your to-do list before you sit down. This will make life so much easier for yourself the next day. Jobs, like ironing school uniforms and packing lunchboxes, can be done much quicker without the kids around, and doing it in the evening is a lot less stressful than trying to rush it amid the morning chaos.
